My Interview with Jaime. Aka: Glowing Beauty Addiction.

Meet Jamie, also known as Glowing Beauty Addiction! Jamie is a very intelligent, beautiful YouTuber who talks about beauty and skincare, and will even give a shoutout to other Channels-both big and small! I love that!

I was immediately drawn to her for her beauty, intellect, the soft way she spoke yet was able to grab your attention right away, and her overall fun personality. Jamie has a really good heart and is very kind to her subscribers. So I know once she makes it big, success will not change her!

I am thrilled that Jamie agreed to do this interview! You all are in for a real treat. So, let’s not delay any longer and go straight to the review!

1. What inspired you to start YouTube and did you have any other ideas for a Channel before going with your wonderful one?

I think what inspired me to start a YouTube channel was watching other channels and feeling…left out. There are sooo many amazing beauty channels out there, but not too many with people over 30. I’m passionate about skincare, but watching someone talk about a miracle cream that will prevent wrinkles, and they don’t have any wrinkles…was tough.

Another reason was that I am relatively new to makeup. I was always a ‘Tom Boy’. I grew up hunting, fishing, rebuilding classic cars, and WAAAAY out in the middle of nowhere. I was having fun learning about makeup. I enjoyed playing with makeup. I loved seeing how creative people could be. I guess I wanted an outlet to show that if this ‘Redneck Girl’ could learn and have fun, I wanted others to be able to as well – regardless of age or where you live or how you grew up. Now, I’m a self-confessed makeup addict, I love my bougie shoes and handbags…and I still love shooting trap and driving my tractor. There is no rule anywhere that one can’t go with the other. FYI – I named my tractor (we name all our vehicles for some reason) Louie, like Louboutin shoes. My mower is Chewy – Jimmy Choo…you get the idea. LOL

I think my biggest push to actually start though was from Peter Monn. I literally would be getting ready in the morning, and talking to myself in the mirror pretending I was talking to a camera like I had a channel. Then Peter Monn put out a video and he had mentioned his only regret was not starting YouTube sooner. Around that same time Petty Paige had said something similar. I took that as my ‘sign’ that it was time for me to give it a go!

2. I see that you’re not just into makeup, you’re also into skincare. Do you mind sharing with us what your regular skincare routine is?

My skincare routine tends to change a bit just because I’m always trying to try out new products to review on my channel. My ‘go to’ though is La Mer products. They smell sooooo amazing and they work well with my skin. I try to do a face mask at least twice a week and really just trying to be nice to be skin. LOL. I try to drink a lot of water and I make sure I’ve got a sunscreen on at all times. If you watch my channel, I will always keep everyone up to date on what I’m loving (and what I’m not).

3. What are some of your Holy Grail Cosmetics?

Make Up Forever Step 1 Smoothing Primer

Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting Spray and the Brow Bar to Go

Physicians Formula bronzer

Flower Beauty Loose Powder but shipping to Canada and can’t order from their website

Chikuhodo makeup brushes

4. We’re still in 2018, but I can’t help but ask, are there any beauty trends that need to fade into oblivion at the end of this year, or any long-running trends that have been going on for years that you just want to go away?

This is a tough question. There are absolutely trends that need to go away – squiggle brows, anyone? But, on the flip side of that, I love that makeup and beauty is about expressing yourself. If it’s fun, and you enjoy it-go for it! So many ‘trends’ are a flash in the pan anyway it seems and some come back. Blue eyeshadow was all the rage, then everyone HATED it, and now it’s coming back. I say just have fun and do you.

5. Who are some of your favorite YouTubers and who are your dream collabs?

Oh my! There are so many I’d love to collaborate with! There are the impossible thoughts like Tati, Raw Beauty Kristi or Jeffree Star of course. I absolutely LOVE Nadi with PopLuxe. I also love Hot Mess Momma MD, Glamour Index, Alexandria Ryan, CC Suarez, Ashley Klaty, Luscious Massacre, Karen Joy…I just couldn’t decide. LOL! I think anytime YouTubers collab it is a great thing. I think it expands both parties viewer base and exposes your channel to others.

6. How do your family and friends think about you being a YouTuber? I bet they’re proud!

LOL! Only 1 person (besides my husband and boys) in real life knows I do YouTube. I just haven’t felt confident enough to tell anyone yet. I’m not sure they would really understand what it is I’m doing and why I’m doing it. My low self-esteem I guess makes me worried that they would say something negative and it would make me want to stop creating. Kinda lame but it is a worry for me. I’m sure it will slip out at some point, but until then, I’m good just knowing I’ve gained so many friends (some that I consider ‘family’) on YouTube. I want to do anything I can to make them happy and create content that they want to see.

7. Finally, what do you see for yourself both professionally and personally looking beyond 2018?

Gosh! Tough question. I keep setting new goals for myself constantly. Right now, I’m trying to reach 400-500 subscribers before my birthday (July 13). It’s not looking like I’ll reach that goal but that certainly doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying.

I guess my goals as far as my channel…I’d love to be able to establish more of a schedule. It’s tough being that my husband works away and with two little boys…it’s tough-especially during summer when they are home all the time.

Personally, I’d love to go back to school for something beauty related. I feel like I’ve been a student most of my life. I studied computer technology (programming) WAY back in 1996, I studied business law majoring in petroleum theory and procedure, I did my geology, I’ve studied aromatherapy…lol, I love school and learning.

Thank you very much, Jamie! I’m so excited I was able to interview you and had a blast talking to you! I know your channel is going to go far, and I’m going to be ride or die with you for life!
